Rutha Gipson

Rutha Gipson, of Poplarville, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Monday, April 25, 2022 at the age of 80. She loved working in her yard with her flower garden. Miss Ruth was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading and painting pictures of her flowers. She was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Dovie Edwards Pittman; her father, Homer Edwards; a sister, Bessie Black; a brother, John Paul Edwards; her husband, James B. Gipson; a daughter, Sherry Gipson Lott; and a granddaughter, Sheina Edwards. Miss Ruth is survived by a daughter, Penny Beasley (Donald); three sons, Ricky Edwards, Jeffery Edwards, and Duane Gipson (Dawn); three sisters, Betty Merritt (David), Carolyn Wright, and Elizabeth Cotten; three brothers, Homer Edwards, Jr. (Linda), Terry Edwards (Glinda), and Tony Edwards; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

There will be a funeral service for Miss Ruth at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 2:30pm. Friends may visit with the family from 1:30pm until service time. Burial will follow in Caney Baptist Church Cemetery.
