Robert "Unc" Harrell

Robert Harrell, age 78, of Sumrall, MS went home to be our Lord on November 4, 2022. Born in Marion County, MS, Robert grew up loving all things of the land. An enthusiast of trapping and hunting for years, he grew to pass that love to his grandson, Conner, and his love of riding horses to his granddaughter, Alyssa. He was “Unc” to many people and a man with many stories and songs to anyone who would lend an ear, but most of all to his granddaughter, Layla.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Rushing Harrell; parents, Walter Harrell and Maudie Alice Mixon Harrell; sister, Mary Lou Smith; and brothers, Cleve Harrell, Clifton Harrell, and Tommy Harrell. His memory will be forever cherished by his son, Bobby Harrell (Kathy); daughter, Sherry Trude (David); son, Nathan Harrell (Cheyenne); daughter, Julie Green; brother, Willie Harrell; and his beloved grandchildren, Steven Trude, Shana Trude, Alyssa Harrell, Conner Harrell, and Layla Harrell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at New Beginnings Church, 308 Old Hwy 24 Sumrall, MS, where family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time. Reverend Ted Shields and Reverend Lanse Foster will officiate and burial will follow at Advance Cemetery assisted by Nathan Harrell, Red Smith, Lynn Oglesby, Phil Stewart, Keith Langheld, and Ron Easterling as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers, Nathan “Big Nate” Harrell, Steven Trude, and Conner Harrell.
