Paul Rogers, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the age of 87. He was born in Star, Mississippi to J.M. and Gladys Rogers and moved with his family to Marion County as a young boy. Paul began working with his father in the logging business when he was in the sixth grade. They worked together until his father’s death in 1993. He lead his own logging crew for many years and in the later years of his career he operated a loader at Rogers Lumber Company. After 68 years in the logging business, he decided to retire. Paul had logging in his blood and he continued going to the lumber mill every day to “check on things.” He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed sports, played on a Bowling League, and coached the Women’s Softball Team at Foxworth First Baptist Church. As he began slowing down, Paul found enjoyment in watching hours of the old Westerns on TV. His greatest pleasure came from time spent with his family. His years of hard work was a testament to his devotion to his family that he loved deeply. He was quick witted, spoke his mind, and you never had to wonder what he was thinking. Paul served his Lord and his community through his longtime membership with Foxworth First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Hutchins; a brother, M.J. “Bud” Rogers; a son, Johnny Paul Rogers; and his beloved wife, Rachel Rogers. Paul is survived by a daughter, Lisa (Mike) Craft; a son Reggie (Ellen) Rogers; a sister, Dianne (Hugh Gene) Smith; six grandchildren, Jamie (Randi) Rogers, Carrie (Brad) Rimes, Brad Rogers, Amanda (Hunter) Hale, Candi (Ben) Reid, and Michelle (Dale Jr.) Morgan; eleven great-grandchildren with one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation for Paul at Colonial Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
