Martha Jane Ellis, age 82 passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 at The Grove in Columbia, MS. She was born in Runnelstown, MS and was a longtime resident of Columbia and a member of Temple Baptist Church. Martha worked in fabrics with Dutherene’s Frame Connection and was especially known for her crocheted baby blankets, and quilts. She also was in Tupperware sales, and a member of the “Columbia Strummers”.
Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents, O.G. Wigley and Delma Myrick Wigley; and a brother, LaRoy Wigley. Her memories will be forever cherished by her husband of 63 years, Ronald Ellis of Columbia; a daughter, Delma Ellis Tolar (John Wayne) of Society Hill community; two sons, Richard Ellis (Susan) of Silver Creek, MS, and Ronnie Ellis of Monticello, MS; two brothers, Buddy Wigley (Ruth) of Petal, MS, and Marion Wigley (Sally) of Macedonia, MS; five grandchildren, Wynde Chastain (Anthony), Jeremy Tolar, Sara Morgan (Derwin), Rachel Tyrone (Travis), and Rikki Broom (Evan); and three great-grandchildren, Adaline Broom, Derwin Morgan, and Benjamin Morgan.
A graveside service, officiated by Reverend Mark McArthur, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia.
