Joyce Gipson, of Columbia, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord Monday, February 21, 2022 at the age of 89. She was a lifelong resident of Marion County and a longtime member of Life Church of God. Joyce will be remembered as a loving, kind and friendly Godly woman. She enjoyed studying the Word of God and teaching Sunday school. For 20 years, she taught a Girl’s Sunday School class at the MS Training School before attending services at her church every Sunday morning. She enjoyed keeping children for 25 years at her home. One of her greatest joys was cooking for her family. She enjoyed trips with her family to Branson, MO, which included boating and jet skiing on Table Rock Lake.
Mrs. Gipson was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Gipson; parents, Carmel Morgan and Ruby Russell Morgan; sisters, Lanell Morgan, Ruth Morgan, and Faye Riley. Her memory will be forever cherished by her son, Durwin and wife Wanda Gipson, whom she loved of as a daughter; grandsons, Jared (Richelle) Gipson, Dustin (Kristen) Gipson; and five great-grandchildren, Jalen, Jonah, Jacie, Brayden and Bryar Gipson.
There will be a visitation for Mrs. Gipson at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 2:00 PM. Reverend Oved Dunaway and Reverend Jerron Carney will officiate at the service and burial will follow at Mt. Sinai Church of God Cemetery, Foxworth, MS, assisted by Jared Gipson, Dustin Gipson, Jalen Gipson, Jason Tagert, George Stewart and Chad Thornhill as pallbearers.
We would like to give special thanks to the Grove Nursing Home and Encompass Hospice staff for all their support and love given to her during her stay.
