Jerry McCraw, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the age of 65. He was born in Marion County to Carsie and Mary McCraw where he has remained a lifelong resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served two tours in Korea. Jerry enjoyed life and lived life to the fullest. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed conversation with anyone who was willing to listen to his stories. Jerry was a “Jack of all trades” and could fix anything. He liked to tinker with things to find out how they worked. He had a love for music, science fiction, computers, and cooking. He was also quick to tell others how to cook and always had advice on any subject. Jerry was generous to a fault and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He will be remembered as the cement that held the family together. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Corene Lisa; and a brother, William McCraw. Jerry is survived by his companion of 25 years, Mary Brown; a son, Michael McCraw; a step-son, Alvin Saunders; two sisters, Gail McCraw and Frances McCraw; two brothers, Monroe (Cheryl) McCraw and Avon McCraw; three grandchildren, Makayla McCraw, Crystal Blessitt, and Perry Barrett, Jr.; and a great-grandchild Abigail Parrish. There will be a visitation for Jerry from 7:00pm until 9:00pm on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 12:00pm on Monday, May 31, 2021 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the New Bunker Hill Cemetery.
