George M. Butler, of Columbia, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the age of 87. He was born in Lawrence County, Mississippi to Frank and Carrie Bell Butler and has been a resident of Columbia for over 40 years. George served our country in the U.S. Air Force and was employed for many years with Rutter-Rex Manufacturing Company in Columbia. He enjoyed talking to anyone willing to listen and never met a stranger. George will be remembered as kind and generous, always willing to help anyone in need.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Virgie Mae Stamps and Ruby Hamilton; a brother, John F. Butler; and his wife, Mary Butler. George is survived by three nieces and three nephews.
There will be a visitation for George at Colonial Funeral Home on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 1:00pm until 3:00pm.
