Earline Upchurch Harper, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed from this life into God’s presence on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the age of 91. She was born in Union, Alabama to Allen and Cathleen Upchurch and has been a resident of Marion County for the past 70 years. Known as Granny to everyone who knew her, she worked for many years in numerous retail establishments including Pritchard Super Saver, Jitney Jungle, and Wal-Mart. Granny was a hard worker and enjoyed being able to help provide for her family. She also enjoyed being outside feeding the birds and squirrels and tending to the flowers in Wal-Mart's garden center. She loved her family deeply and everyone knew that they were loved. Granny’s greatest joy came from cooking Sunday dinner for her family to gather around her table every week. She would rise up early to prepare and always kept her freezer stocked with popsicles for the kids.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death two sisters, Fannie Mae Walker and Mary Ann Spencer; three brothers, Cecil Upchurch, Harvey Upchurch, and James Upchurch; a daughter-in-law, Renee’ Harper; a granddaughter, Alicia Neal; and her beloved husband, Hardy “Red Bull” Harper. Granny is survived by four sons, Benton Ray (Patsy) Harper, Harold Harper, Stanley Harper, and Steve (Angela) Harper; eight granddaughters, Amanda (Russell) Bolin, Amberly (Danny) Sanders, Christy (Chris) Dickerson, Cindy Harper, Stephanie Harper, Kelsey (Kirk) Smith, Samantha Harper, and Allison Spiers; 30 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Darel Daniels and Reverend Tyler Chavis, will be at Colonial Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 12:00pm. Friends may visit with the family from 10:30am until service time. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery assisted by Cody Nelson, Hunter Bolin, Kirk Smith, Kopeland Cleland, Danny Wayne Sanders, Chris Dickerson, and Cody Dixon serving as pallbearers.
