Danny Barnes, age 74, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at his residence in Columbia, MS. He worked in the oil field 20 years and was a member of Goss Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 16 years and was faithfully involved with Pure Prayer every Tuesday evening, Men’s Brotherhood, and Blessing of the Hunt.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years and mother to his children, Linda Barnes, and parents, Forrest Barnes and Ruth McDaniel Barnes.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Barnes of Columbia; three daughters, Vicki Moore (Bill) of Amory, MS, Debbie Doane (Allan) of Columbia, and Melissa Essary (Clay) of Bassfield, MS; a sister, Carolyn Buckley (Ronnie) of Columbia; eight grandchildren, Justin Dement (Kauan), Emily Doane, Abby Doane, Kyle Essary, Taylor Essary, Luke Moore, Rusty Moore, and Austin Moore; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service for Mr. Barnes will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Wednesday December 1, 2021 at Goss Baptist Church where family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 AM until service time. Reverend Mark McArthur and Reverend Brian Malone will officiate and burial will follow at Society Hill Cemetery assisted by Allan Doane, Bill Moore, Cotton Reid, Benton Tolar, Ronnie Buckley, and Eric Thornhill as pallbearers.
