Connie Sue Buckley Nickey

Connie Sue Buckley Nickey, of the Pine Burr Community in Mississippi, received her complete healing in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the age of 70. She was born in Marion County to Sheppard and Virgie Buckley where she has remained a lifelong resident. Connie enjoyed painting art, flower gardening, camping, and spending time with her family. She loved being a wife, mama, and mamaw. Connie served her Lord through her membership in Pine Burr Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her big heart and always opened up her home to take in kids who needed a home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Winnie Faye Jones and Brenda Joyce Day; and a brother, David Lamar Buckley. Connie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Cecil Nickey; a daughter, Alesha Verdin; a grandson, Christian Shepherd Verdin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation for Connie at Colonial Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, August 18, 2022. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Allen Turnage, will be in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am on Friday, August 19, 2022. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
