Cheryl Pittman, of Foxworth, Mississippi, passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the age of 73. She has been a resident of Marion County for the past 56 years and was a member of Dexter Pentecostal Church. Nanny Cheryl, as she was known to everyone, enjoyed fishing, crawfish boils, shopping, and taking care of her flowerbeds. She loved Jesus and loved singing for His glory, spending countless hours to ensure that her gift would be flawless. Nanny Cheryl was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family deeply. There was nothing she would not do for them and her grandbabies knew that Nanny would get them out of trouble. She cherished the time spent with her family and loved to cook for them, but when the broom came out, it meant that you have stayed long enough. Nanny Cheryl will be remembered for the commitment she made to pray for her family. Not a morning went by that you would not see her sitting on her porch overlooking the hill, rocking, drinking coffee, and asking God to watch over her babies.
Mrs. Pittman was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Marie Futch; three sisters, Angie Carpenter, Dale Penton, and Jo Ann Clark; two brothers, Edward Futch, and Jackie Futch; and a son, Arnold Pittman.
Cheryl is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jerry D. Pittman; a daughter, Lachel Dement (Kerry); a son, Kendall Pittman (Karesa); four grandchildren, Jeron Dement (Miranda) , Blake Dement (Leah), Kaylee Rockco (Jason), and Chanley Pittman; four great-grandchildren, Jathan Rockco, Bryleigh Dement, Brelyn Dement, and Jaselyn Rockco; a great-grandchild on the way, Kaston Dement; four step great-grandchildren, Evan Rockco, Eli Rockco, Emma Pittman, and Kyle Ginn.
There will be a visitation for Nanny Cheryl at Dexter Pentecostal Church on Monday, June 14, 2021 beginning at 6:30 PM through the night until service time the next day. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Jerry Terrell and Reverend Mike Dykes, will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Burial will follow in Lott Memorial Cemetery assisted by Robert Stampley, Jason Rockco, Ricky Pittman, Chanley Pittman, Jeron Dement and Blake Dement serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Evan Rockco, Eli Rockco, and Jathan Rockco.
