Buddy Carroll Bracey passed away at the age of 73 on Sunday, February 12, 2023 surrounded by his family at his home in the Hurricane Creek Community. He was a graduate of West Marion High School and Southwest Community College. He proudly served six years in the Army National Guard and worked as a Drilling Superintendent with various companies including Exxon from where he retired. In his later years, Buddy worked at Woodlawn Church where he was a member and faithfully attended. Buddy enjoyed hunting and fishing, and as a loving family man, he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to the fullest.
Mr. Bracey was preceded in death by an infant son, and his son, Johnathan Michael Bracey; and parents, J.C. Bracey and Marvin Marie Dunaway Bracey. His memory will be forever cherished by his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Linda C. Forbes Bracey; his son, Chris Bracey (Samantha); sister, Judy Clifford (Ric); his three grandchildren, Lauren M. Bracey, Sara E. Bracey Hall (Tyler), and Hagen M. Bracey; and great-grandchildren, Sawyer Barrett, Tatum Barrett, Locklyn Hall, and great-granddaughter on the way, Blakely Hall.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, MS. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the funeral home with Reverend Jerron Carney and Reverend Zach Smith, presiding. Burial will follow at Hurricane Creek Cemetery assisted by Joe Bracey, Tim Bracey, Randy Bracey, Michael Bracey, Andrew Forbes, and Jason McKenzie as pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers, Dewayne Hamilton, and Darrell Bracey.
