Betty Christine Gipson

Betty Christine Gipson, a lifelong resident of the Improve Community, passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at the age of 78. She was born to Christopher and Bessie Sanford on July 24, 1943. Betty Christine will be remembered for being strong willed with strong opinions. She was passionate about square dancing and even more passionate about her family, especially her love for her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew “Bud” Gipson; a son, William O’Neal Gipson; a grandson, Chris Blansett; a sister, Ballzie Cavanaugh; three brothers, C.C. Sanford, Jack Sanford, and George Sanford; and her parents. Betty Christine is survived by a daughter, Machelle Dyess (Wayne); two sons, Tim Gipson (Janet) and Eddie Gipson (Brandi); two sisters, Bobbie Nell Lowery and Patsy Ruth Broom; two brothers, Johnny Sanford (Kathryn) and Nathan Sanford (Joyce); five grandchildren, Tabitha Davis, Carlea Harrison (Chance), Doye Blansett, Samantha Gipson, and Andrew Gipson; and twelve great-grandchildren, Madison McNease, Kinsley Owens, Kason Hayes, RaeLynn Harrison, Josie Harrison, Landon Blansett, Emma “Lulu” Blansett, Bentley Blansett, Ja’Nay Blansett, Henry Messer, Brayden Gipson, and BreAnna Gipson.

There will be a visitation at Colonial Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, August 20, 2021. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Jason Matheny, will be at the graveside in Caney Baptist Church Cemetery on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 10:00am.
