William “Bill” Selby, 1934-2015 William “Bill” Selby, a lifelong resident of Columbia, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 after a brief illness. He was 80 years old. The burial will be conducted in a private ceremony at Memorial Cemetery in Columbia. Bill was born to Shannon L. Selby and Margaret Martin on June 27, 1934 in Columbia. He graduated from Hickman High School and attended Tennessee Temple University and Baylor University. He joined the Army in 1955, and served for seven years. He was the owner and president of Selby Heating and Air Conditioning in Columbia for 30 years before retiring in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean; his son Marty Selby and daughter-in-law Sandy of Arrow Rock, Mo., his son Michael Selby of Columbia; his granddaughter Beth Nease and her husband Stephen of Wooldridge, Mo.; his granddaughter Catie Selby of Wooldridge, Mo.; four great grandchildren – Axton, Tate, Presley and Noah; and his beloved dog Sammy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Kathleen and Norma.
