Friends will be received on Friday, July 19 at Broadway Christian Church at 10:00 AM, followed immediately by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. The graveside service with full military honors will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Born in Buell, Missouri on March 9, 1930 to Elnora (Collins) and William Jennings Angel, Dale joined the US Army in 1951 and served in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged in 1954, he continued his education and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Transylvania University in Kentucky. In 1970, Dale completed a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Tennessee. He excelled in his chosen career; coming back home to Missouri and working as the Program Coordinator for Rural Development for the University of Missouri Extension and the Director of Policy for MFA. Later, he took on leadership positions with the Missouri Department of Agriculture and the Missouri Agricultural & Small Business Development Authority.
Dale was also active in the faith community; acting as Senior Minister for Millersburg Christian Church. One of his major projects during his tenure was developing a new sanctuary. He was a proud member of Broadway Christian Church for fifty-six years, which he considered his spiritual home. He authored many spiritual essays and philosophical papers, capturing his beliefs.
Despite his many accomplishments, Dale was always most proud of being a husband to Wanda, a father to Sharon and Kevin, and a grandfather to Shelby and Jordan. Married on January 19, 1964, Wanda and Dale just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Together they loved to travel, play bridge, and cheer for the Missouri Tigers basketball teams. He lived his life with faith, commitment and love.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Dobbs) Angel; daughter, Sharon Angel; son, Kevin (Jennifer) Angel; sisters, Ruthie Kivett and Shirley (Dwight) Wheelan; and two granddaughters, Shelby and Jordan, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by a sister, Margie Smith and a brother, Edgar Wendell Angel.
