Dr. Steve Edward Zobrisky PHD

Visitation will be 3-5pm, Saturday, December 2, 2017 with Masonic service at 5 at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia, MO. Funeral service will be 2pm, Sunday, December 3 at Memorial Funeral home and burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Steve was born March 21, 1925, the youngest of nine children, in Desloge, MO to Mikael and Anna Nimko Zobrisky. He served in the Navy during the WWII until his discharge in 1945. Subsequently, he served in the Air Force Reserves for many years. On June 10, 1946, he married Neomi Bernice Reddick. In 1956, he completed his PhD. from the University of Missouri. He was a Fulbright Scholar in 1954-55 in New Zealand. From 1947-1967 he studied, taught and conducted research at MU. He worked for the US government in Argentina while on sabbatical from the University from 1960-62. He moved his family to Washington DC in 1967 to serve in the Department of Agriculture, a position he would hold from 1967 until his retirement in 1988. He served as Dean of the School of Agriculture at the University of Idaho, Moscow Idaho from 1972-73. During his career Steve traveled through out the US and almost every country, world wide, including Europe, China, Russia.

Steve was an active member of Oakland Christian Church for many years, serving on their board and in a variety of functions. He was a Mason, participating in his local lodge for many years at many levels.

Steve was a devoted husband, and a true patriot who had strong beliefs regarding the importance of respect and the responsibility of parents to raise good citizens.

He is survived by six children, Sharon (Paul) Hayes of Andover, MA, Toni (Michael) Bray of Portola Valley, CA, Mark (Lisa) Zobrisky of Dunkirk, MD, Ann (Charles) Cooley of Fairfax Station, VA, Bruce (Sherri) Zobrisky of Monrovia, MD, and Kelly (Stanley) Sanders of Archdale, NC; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nephews, and their caring and devoted neighbors, Andy & Kelly Faup and his lovingly supportive in-laws including Roy & Karen Reddick. His parents; wife, Bernice; and his eight siblings preceded him in death.
