Shirley Jean Johnson

Shirley Jean Johnson, 75, of Columbia, joined her savior Jesus Christ on August 28, 2014, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Shirley fought a 30 year battle with Parkinson’s disease with courage, strength, and grace. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an executive secretary at Shelter Insurance for 32 years and loved her work. Shirley was also a very active member in her church. She taught Sunday school and touched many lives along her journey. She was a very compassionate loving person to all she met and she loved The Lord. Shirley was preceded in death by the love of her life, Wayne. She had three children all of Columbia, Sherre Mullins and husband, Scotty; Terry Johnson and wife, Debra; and Chad Johnson and wife, Barb. She had seven grandchildren she adored: Jade Epperson, Cole Epperson, Breanna Johnson, Corey Johnson, Emily Johnson, Dakota Johnson, and Austin Johnson. Services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Inurnment will be at a later date. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Columbia Manor Care Center for their loving care of Shirley in her last year.
