Robert Edwin Rhodes

Visitation will take place, 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Home with funeral services at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Samuel Powell officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Robert was born, February 6, 1936 in Manhattan, KS, the son of Arthur J. Rhodes and Elma (Brubaker) Rhodes. On June 21, 1958, in Springfield, Missouri, Bob was united in marriage to Frankie Lee (Yearta) Rhodes.

Bob was working towards a pharmacology degree at the University of Missouri before being drafted into the US Army, where he honorably served his country. Upon his discharge he found employment with the City of Columbia in the Water & Light Department as an engineering aide. Bob served his community for over 40 years retiring in January of 2001. He was a member of the Victoria Chapter #14, Order of the Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge. Bob loved playing golf, watching birds and traveling.

Bob is survived by his nieces and nephews: Sydney Rhodes of Tulsa, OK, Greg Rhodes of Rogers, AR, Patricia (Michael) Sloup of Edmond, OK, Craig (Laurie) Rhodes of Wichita, KS, Jerry (Cristi) Rhodes of Bartlesville, OK, Darryl Rhodes of California, MO, Michelle Kutscher of Moberly: brothers-in-law Douglas M. Yearta of Jasper, MO and Rex A. (Denise) Yearta of Springfield, MO: Franike’s nieces and nephews: Luana (Pete) Tapernoux of AZ, Angela Yearta of AZ, Melanie Yearta of Kansas City, MO. Laura (Jeff) Lagomarsino of Idaho Falls, ID, April Hoffman of Union, MO, Amy Harlow of Springfield, MO, Leslie Yearta of Springfield, MO, Erin Yearta of Springfield, MO, and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and infant daughter, Vicki Lynn (1960).

Memorials are suggested to the Coyote Hills or the Ronald McDonald House.
