He was born in Fulton, Missouri on February 24, 1954, to Robert Paul and Essie (Butler) Johnson, one of ten children.
Ricky attended Hickman High School and entered the United States Marine Corps in 1975 before he graduated. He transferred to the United States Marine Corps Reserve in 1978 and was honorably discharged in 1981.
He was married to Victoria Logan on May 13, 1975, who survives.
Ricky had a career in construction as a heavy equipment operator for many years, working for various construction companies before switching to a career as a semi-truck driver. He was not a member of any formal organizations, however, he had a passion for boxing, football, baseball, music, dancing, automobiles, fun, and children, especially his grandchildren.
Ricky is survived by the mother of his children, Victoria Johnson of Columbia; his oldest son Ricky Logan (Samantha Dillon) of Atlanta, Georgia; son Leifthan Johnson; son Vance Johnson (Chrystal Marshall); daughter Solcollin (James) Heard; son Christopher Johnson (Whitney Phillips); daughter Alexandra Johnson; son Marcus Johnson (Skylar Ivicsics); and daughter Joanna Johnson (Jayvyn Wilson), all of Columbia; and his beloved grandchildren, Serenity Washington, Anaya Washington, Vance Johnson Jr., Jahia Marteen, Keira Heard, Cameron Johnson, Kayziah Burgeson, Raylah Washington, and Maverick Johnson. Also surviving are his siblings, Rev. Dr. Linda K. Johnson of Louisville, Kentucky, Robert Johnson (Belle Roland), Garry Johnson, Janet (Ricky) Germany, all of Columbia, as well as Margie Johnson and Timothy (Judy) Johnson, all of Kansas City, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; an infant brother, Gary; two sisters, Wanda Kemp and Alfreda Johnson; and a nephew, Larry Kemp Jr.
Friends may gather for an open casket visitation on Friday, August 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 West, Columbia, Missouri. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Dr. Linda K. Johnson will take place Friday, August 5, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Graveside services with full military honors will occur Friday, August 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, 1479 County Rd 1675, Jacksonville, MO 65260.
