Born on February 29, 1932 in Centralia to Eugene and Monta Mae (Barnes) Stites, she was the only girl of five children. She married Arnold “Tudy” Adkisson on October 21, 1946 and their love story endured until his passing in 1997.
Peggy cherished her family above all and was happiest spending time with them at home. She was a talented cook and baker, well known for her chocolate cake and pies. Peggy also spent a lot of time nurturing her plant and vegetable gardens. She leaves her family with many precious mementos that she crocheted: afghans, scarves and Christmas tree skirts to enjoy for many years to come.
In addition to her husband, Peggy is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; a daughter, Connie Blakley; and a grandson, Rob Rosson.
Survivors include her children: Darlene Rosson, Wanda Wieand, Arnold “Buddy” Adkisson Jr. and Sherry Scott-Schafer; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 23 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 1000 Dorcas St. in Mexico, Missouri. Inurnment will take place at East Lawn Memorial Park, also in Mexico.
