Master Sergeant Louis Patrick Hendricks, U. S. Air Force (retired) succumbed to Glioblastoma brain cancer in Columbia, Missouri on Sunday, October 30th, 2016 at the age of 51. Louis died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by Alicia, his devoted wife of 23 years, by their daughter Ashlyn and their sons Louis, Justin and Benjamin. Louis is also survived by his parents, Fred and Mary Hendricks and his siblings Christine Strube (Michael), Barney Hendricks (Farrell), Fritz Hendricks (Amy), Caroline Kind (Steve) and Glen Hendricks (Cindy). He is also survived by Alicia’s mother Jennifer Dennis and her husband Curt Dennis along with Alicia’s sister Jessica Logan. In addition to parents and siblings, Louis will be remembered by his thirteen loving nieces and nephews and countless extended family members and friends.
Louis was born on January 6th, 1965, to Fred and Mary Hendricks. He is the fifth of six children. Following graduation from Millard High School in 1983, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for twenty years. It was in the Air Force that he met his beloved wife Alicia, whom he married on May 22nd, 1993. After retiring from the military, Louis continued to work for the federal government in the Natural Resources Conservation Service of the Department of Agriculture. His jobs included Contracting, Grants and Agreements, and most recently as the State Administrative Officer. In addition to his work, Louis loved spending time with his family, listening to good music, enjoying fine wine, playing golf and hunting. He was devoted to his faith and dedicated many hours to studying the Bible, sharing his faith and volunteering as a sound engineer at Forum Christian Church. In 2013, he earned his Bachelors of Biblical Studies degree from Moody Bible Institute. Louis and his family have been extremely grateful for the generosity of the church, friends, neighbors and co-workers during this difficult time. He will be remembered for his good humor, kindness and generosity.
Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4th at Forum Christian Church, 3900 Forum Blvd, Columbia, Missouri 65203. Visitation will be followed by a memorial service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Private Interment at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the Head for the Cure Foundation or to the Hendricks Family.
