Lois Vogt, age 89, of Columbia, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024 at Boone Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Snell and Dr. Jeff Snell officiating. Visitation will take place one hour before the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lois was born on October 31, 1935 in Auburn, Nebraska; the daughter of Lewis and Estelle Anderton Terry. She attended Ridgeway and Grant Grade Schools, Jefferson Junior High and graduated from David Hickman High School in 1953. Lois met her future husband, William (Bill) Vogt in 1955 when he was a student at M.U. They were united in marriage September 15, 1956 at The Church of God (Holiness) in Columbia. In 1958, they moved to Imperial, Missouri, where they resided for the next 42 years. Lois worked for Ramsey Corporation in Manchester, Missouri as a Systems Coordinator for 26 years. They moved back to Columbia in 2001 and Bill passed away in 2002.
Bill and Lois retired in 1986 and they did a lot of traveling and enjoyed many fishing trips to Greer's Ferry, Arkansas with their friends. Lois also enjoyed gardening, yard work and the many bus trips she took with her sisters, Phyllis Willingham, LaVerne Sartin and her cousin Emma Zimmerman. She also liked seeing her high school friends and was always looking forward to the next reunion. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Lois is survived by her dear friend Bob Snell, her sister LaVerne Sartin and her brother Paul Terry. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sisters Juanita White and Phyllis Willingham.
