John Henry McMinn

John Henry McMinn, formerly of Columbia passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. A visitation will be held Friday June 4, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm, both at Memorial Funeral Home. Military Honors will follow.

John was born to Richard Tate McMinn and Marion (Croswhite) Rexroat on July 2, 1947 in Columbia. On October 30, 1976 he was united in marriage to Donna Irene Long and she preceded him in death in 2006.

John was a 1966 graduate of Mexico High School and upon graduation he entered the U.S. Air Force. John had two lifelong passions: computers and music. He made a career in computers retiring from SEMCO. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing football, baseball, fishing, playing in bands and spending time at beach vacations. He cherished his time with his family, loved ones and pets.

John is survived by his children, Crystal (Will) McWilliams, Chad (Sara) McMinn; one sister, Donna Sue Hockman; three grandchildren, Cohen, Charliegh, and Marley; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and his girlfriend, Jackie Petersen.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother, James McMinn

Donations in John’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnels to Towers Foundation in care of the funeral home.
