James "Jim" E Crosby

Jim was born April 28, 1926 to James E. and Lenore E. (Casselman) Crosby, Jr in Doniphan, Missouri. He is a graduate of Hickman High School and the University of Missouri. He served in the US Navy as a Petty Officer Third Class and was honorably discharged on June 16, 1946. He was employed by Shelter Mutual Insurance Companies (formerly MFA Insurance) for forty four years. On August 20, 1952 he married Joan E. (Martin) Crosby.

He was a member of the Missouri United Methodist Church where he served as the head usher for many years. Other activities included thirty years as the Scoutmaster for Troop 5, Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, and volunteer track official for MU.

Jim is survived by his wife Joan, his sister Marcia Martin of Live Oak, FL, five children: James “Ed” of Columbia, Robert of Houston, TX, and triplets: David (Heather) of Crystal City, MO, Don of Kirksville and Doris Dixon of Ballwin, MO. Additionally, he is survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:00 am with a visitation from 10:00 until service time. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.
