James Russell Jennings

Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W, Columbia, MO 65202.

James was born in Columbia to Raymond and Florence Jennings on March 8, 1954. He had a lengthy career working at the Boone County Fire Protection District.

James was a compassionate, creative, humorous man who would never hesitate to help the ones he loved whether it be with a helping hand or a much-needed laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His favorite activities were spending time outdoors at a campout, working in the yard or creating unique buildings or artwork. He loved to sit on the front porch and watch the thunderstorms roll in. He will be sincerely missed by his loved ones and everyone who knew him.

He is survived by spouse, Cheryl Williams; children, Bryan Jennings (Sarah), Jason Jennings, Kristy Hampton and Rebecca Williams; sister Betty Moore (Jim), brother, Terry Jennings (Diane); grandchildren, Emily, Grant, Alyssa, Brody; and great-grandson Sebastian; sister-in-law, Ramona Wayne; brother-in-law, Randy Petsel and Joseph Carrone; and a host of nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Florence Jennings and his brother Alan Jennings.
