Jim was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on September 18, 1940 to Ruth Ann Wright
He married Edna Caroline Lacey on August 10, 1997 in Columbia Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Caroline Lacey Green of Columbia; and his children Lenard Sims (JoAnn Carey) of Moberly, Elbert Sims (Donna) of Columbia, Nancy Wells of Springfield, Debbie Nelson (Ron) of Centralia, Jenny Gallipue (Paul) of Kansas City, Randy Sims (Tammy Gash Gelder) of Centralia, James R. Green(Dee Ann Nowlin-Green) of Hallsville, MO Kefe Durham (Jim) of Columbia, Leslie Provencher (Bill) of Columbia; and his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, Amy Simon and Sarah Provencher. Sister Eula Mae Epley and brother Floyd Wright of Old Franklin.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Peggy Sue Hatfield, and his son Kelly Sims.
A celebration of Jim's life will be at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 2015 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Visitation will be prior to the service from 4-6pm
Jim worked as a Sales Associate at Lowe's in Columbia up until he was no longer able to work due to his health.
Jim had his own Home/Mobile Home Repair business with he did for more than 20 years.
Jim loved the outdoors, going fishing, telling stories about his life, and being with family. Jim always believed in a positive outlook and being thankful for life. Jim enjoyed watching wrestling with his wife and family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed cracking jokes. He just enjoyed having a cup of coffee and talking to friends and family.
