Glenn was born October 8, 1930 in Hartsburg, MO to Henen and Minnie Heath Richardson. A lifelong resident of Boone County, he was a 1950 graduate of Ashland High School. He served in the US Army for two years in Germany during the Korean War and upon his return, he married Melvonna Long in Columbia on June 24, 1954. He worked 20 years as a pressman for the Columbia Tribune, and upon leaving there, he began working as a carpenter for the next several years. He was also a horse trainer and enjoyed trail riding. He enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing and 4-wheeling in the mountains in Colorado. He loved to repair and build homes and often commented on the satisfaction he received in knowing that his quality work would live past his time.
Glenn was a storyteller, regaling family and friends with stories of the simpler times on the farm with his family. He was a jokester; when he was around you knew it was going to be a day with a smile. His bond with his brothers was legendary, and the fodder for many of his stories. He was a man who believed in helping others, whether it be lending a tool or his time. Even in recent years his vast knowledge of how to construct or repair was acute, and his guidance sought.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Melvonna Richardson, children; Glenda (Doyle Welker) Richardson of Jamestown, MO, Scott Richardson of Clinton, MO, Chuck (Kim) Richardson of Columbia, MO, Lori (Mike) Kilfoil of Hartsburg, MO and Sara (Jeff) Vincent of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Jacob Curl, Alexandra Curl, Aaron (Ally) Richardson, Justin Richardson, Kaitlyn Gebhardt, Hunter Breedlove, Kaitlyn Breedlove, Kate (Josh) Kimbraugh, Jimmy (Lisa) Kilfoil, Garret Vincent, Taylor Vincent, Olivia Vincent, and Brandon Vincent; six great-grandchildren; sister, Norine Ketchum of Hallsville, MO, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, seven brothers, and two sisters preceded him in death.
The family encourages everyone to dress casually, as Glenn would have known you. All motorcyclists are invited to join in an escort from Memorial to the cemetery.
