Evelyn Wanita (Reno) Tatum, known to many as “Grandma Wandy,” passed away at home on December 30, 2023 at the age of 84. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 4 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, Missouri.
Born in Windsor, Missouri on April 12, 1939 to Gordon and Susie Reno, Evelyn was the fifth of ten children. She was united in marriage on April 14, 1955 to James Ernest Tatum, who preceded her in death on June 11, 2018. From this union were born four children: Linda, Sharon, Steven and Rhonda. She was devoted to her family and was overjoyed when grandchildren (and great, great-great) came into her life.
Known just as much for her loving and giving nature as she was for her skills on the bowling lanes, Evelyn knew how to have a good time. She enjoyed hot rods and Camaros and had owned several over the years. She was a passionate woman with a big heart who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children: Steven Tatum, Sharon (David) Daly, Rhonda Drake and Linda (Scott) Walcott, all of the Columbia area; eleven grandchildren: Amanda Casares, Ashley Stankevich, Stephanie Daly, Clarence Daly, Jennifer Frerking, Michelle Walcott, Jordan Drake, Payton Drake, Cameron Drake, Hayden Drake and Jet Tatum; as well as eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving is a sister, Dorothy Kramer.
In addition to her parents and her husband James, Evelyn is preceded in death by eight siblings: Dorsie Reno, Melvin Reno, Gladys Beck, Deloris Green, Janice Vogler, Charles Reno, Freddie Reno and Ben Reno.
Services are under the care and direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Columbia, Missouri. Share condolences and memories online at www.memorialfuneralhomeandcemetery.com.
