Eliza was born April 21, 1917 Daughter of Richard and Nora Crane (Estes) in Boone county. She married Orb Hoffman on October 28, 1940 in Howard County and he preceded her in death in December of 1983. Eliza and her daughter Dorothy continued to live on their farm to raise the livestock and take care of their big gardens. In 1999, she and Dorothy decided to move to Columbia to better assist Eliza with her health. She loved her family and put others first. Once moved to Columbia, she and Dorothy would spend all day making quilts for family members and just to have around their own home. Eliza was a Baptist and a member of the Liberty Primitive Baptist Church in Ashland, MO.
Survivors include one daughter Dorothy G. Coleman of Columbia, Five grand- children, Thomas (Billy) and Pam Coleman of Columbia, Mike Coleman of Louisiana, Debbie and Tiny Meng of Wisconsin, Dennis and Peggy Coleman of Florida and Shannon and Cary Warrell of Florida. Ten Great Grand-children and four Great-great grand-children and one great-great-great grandchild also Several step-grandchildren. One sister, Anna Calvin of Hallsville, many nieces and nephews and a very special daughter in law Thelma Rankin of Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, one son, Thomas W. Coleman, two step sons, Ray and Virgil Hoffman, five sisters, Florence Smallwood, Goldie Essary, Delore Neely, Mary Judd, Margret Crane and Three Brothers, Julius, William and Elmo Crane.
Visitation will be Friday, September 23, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia with the Funeral services on Saturday September 24, 2016 at 10:00 am also at the funeral home, Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice Compassus of Columbia or the donor’s choice.
