Eddie Meyer Groff

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Jermine Alberty officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Eddie was born on August 16, 1951 in Jefferson City, MO the son of Winfred “Dutch” and Victoria (Branson) Groff. He was married on December 9, 1972 in Fulton, MO to Christine “Chris” Hamilton. He was a registered nurse who worked at several Columbia hospitals and retired from Women’s & Children’s Hospital in 2006.

He enjoyed gardening, manicuring the yard, feeding the squirrels and birds, mushroom hunting, fishing, and reading which included his Bible and Missouri history. He especially liked trains, collecting train memorabilia and the St Louis Cardinals baseball team. Eddie really loved spending time with his family and the family pets.

Survivors include: his wife, Chris Groff of the home; two daughters, Caitlin Guinn (Jeff) of Columbia, MO and Carina O’Neill of Columbia, MO; his mother, Victoria Groff-Durk (Howard) of Columbia, MO; three grandchildren, Cianna and KaiLea Guinn and Isaac O’Neill; one sister, Carol Porting of Bonnots Mill, MO; his mother-in-law, Kathryn Hamilton of Fulton, MO and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Winfred “Dutch” Groff; father-in-law, Larry Hamilton and brother-in-law, Charles Porting.
