Don Romig, 68, of Columbia, MO passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be Friday, April 13 at Memorial Funeral Home 1217 Business Loop 70 West Columbia from 4-6pm. A celebration of life will follow at 7pm at the Elks Lodge 594 in Columbia.
Don was born, June 17, 1949 in Sedalia, MO, the son of Carl C. and Letha L. Gerken Romig. In 1967, he graduated from Pilot Grove High School, and a few years later, he went to work for MODOT. He started on the Highway Crew and would spend 31 years working for MODOT before retiring in 2006 as an Area Supervisor. He worked in Armstrong, Boonville, and Columbia. Don was an active member of the Elks, volunteering his time as a cook, and assisting the Ex-POW’s. He loved spending time with his grandkids and fishing with his grandson Izik.
He is survived by two daughters, Amy (Billy) Robinson of Clark and Sara Romig of Kansas City, MO; siblings, Joyce (Don) Schaefer of Holts Summit, Lloyd (Ann) Romig of Harrisonville, and Gary (Nancy) Romig of Pilot Grove; grandchildren, Garrett and Brooklyn Robinson and Izik Butts; girlfriend, Karen Cochran, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. His parents and a brother, Lee Romig, preceded him in death.
