David James McCarter, 66, died peacefully at home July 11 from glioblastoma. He was born in Rochester, Minnesota on June 27, and as a young man moved to Missouri where he was always most at home in the outdoors.
He was a true naturalist and passionate gardener who loved his many dogs, cats, pigeons, and plants. He was an avid reader and big fan of David Attenborough films. Family and friends knew him for his stylized ink drawings of dogs and birds, his colorful storytelling, and mouth-harp playing.
David was a dedicated husband and father and hard worker. He will be greatly missed.
A gathering of friends is being planned for 6:30 p.m. July 31 at the Gordon Shelter at Stephens Lake Park.
