Carl Eugene “Nenie Boy” Nichols, 88 of Columbia, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at his home with his family at his side. Visitation will be 4 PM- 6 PM on Thursday March 9, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will at conducted at 11 AM on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors, will take place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville, Missouri.
Carl was born on August 19, 1934 in Columbia the son of Abner Purl Nichols and Josephine Florence (Ficklin) Nichols. He was united in marriage on June 13, 1959 to Margaret Ellen Tremaine who survives. He served his country for four years in the United State Navy. He had a successful career as an electrician, a member of the IBEW, Local 257.
Carl enjoyed hunting, shooting, racing and cars, especially hot rods. The proudest moments of his life include getting married to Margaret, the birth of his two daughters and that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone he met on the street or in a store. He enjoyed the outdoors by working in his yard and cleaning his cars.
Carl is survived by his wife: Margaret; two daughters: Carla Jensen; Theresa Bennett; his grandchildren: Jillian (Gary) Christmas; Devin Bennett; Jeremy (Britney) Jensen; Cody Bennett his great grandchildren: Parker Miller; Avery Lawrence; Chloe Jensen; Jack Christmas; Khyleigh Bennett; three sisters-in-law: Doreen Nichols; Thelma Reed; Mary Tremaine; one brother-in-law: Lawrence Junior Tremaine and a host of nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his siblings: Agnes Nichols Acton; Morraine Nichols; Dorothy Hummel; Billy Joe Nichols; Mary Douglas; Wynona (Noni) King; Jimmy Nichols; Lois Noel; and a great granddaughter: Lily Miller.
Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home.
