Betty Westbrook, 84, of Columbia, MO passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021. As per her wishes, her body will be donated to science and there will be no services.
Betty was born July 30, 1936 in Farmington, MO to E.J. and Illa Kathleen Newberger Morris. Betty graduated in 1955 from Farmington High School and married Billy Carl Westbrook a radio DJ at KREI radio station that same year. They then moved to Columbia Missouri where Bill obtained employment as a television Engineer at KOMU TV. Betty worked for many years at the Fulton State Hospital and was the first female security aide at the Biggs building. She had a passion for working with people with mental disabilities, and she loved taking care of her many pets. In her later years she frequently reminisced about growing up on her family farm in Farmington and her old classmates. She was an avid reader and passed that love on to her children.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Cherri) Westbrook and Jody Westbrook of Columbia; grandchildren, Jacob Westbrook, Joshua (Larissa) Westbrook of Columbia, Tara (Cassidy) Mathews of Hallsville, and Traci & Travis Henry of Columbia; great grandchildren, Owen & Boone Westbrook, Brooklyn, Maddox, and Genavieve Mathews, and Coralie Concannon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie; sisters, Beulah and Reva; brothers, Bob and Bert; and three granddaughters, Erika, Ashley, & Andrea Henry.
