Alan was born in Columbia, the son of Alan Roco Mitchell and Debra Worley. He attended Columbia Public Schools and graduated from Hickman High School. He graduated from the College of the Ozarks with a degree in education. It was there that he met his future wife, Bethlehem Mills. Upon returning to Columbia Alan built a career with the Columbia Police Department first as a booking officer. After attending the Law Enforcement Training Institute and receiving his police license he became a fulltime police office. He worked all the patrol sifts, a downtown foot beat, an evidence technician, and as a detective.
He then entered a second career as an over the road truck driver for Prime Trucking. He loved driving and it gave him many great experiences.
Alan leaves behind his beloved wife Beth, three daughters whom he adored, Emily, Molly, Alyssa; his mother Debra Mitchell; his father Alan (Sheryl) Mitchell; two sisters Heather, Dawn; one niece Ramona and one nephew James. Alan will be remembered fondly by many.
