Sharah Telida Horton, 47, of Columbia, MD, died unexpectantly at home on October 19, 2019. Sharah was born on January 10, 1972, in Newark, NJ, daughter of Clarence and Viola (Carter) Horton. A 1989 graduate of Eleanor McMain Secondary School, Sharah attended Loyola University New Orleans and earned a BA in Philosophy in 1995. In 2000, she earned a Masters in Public Administration from the University of New Orleans. Sharah fulfilled her dreams of advancing her career when she became a finalist of the highly selective, prestigious Presidential Management Fellows Program (PMF). As a PMF, Sharah gained leadership experience working with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), where she worked as an Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist and Special Emphasis Program Manager. She retired in 2018 with 17 years of federal service. Sharah enjoyed providing counseling to individuals who experienced discrimination and coordinating programs to promote diversity. She loved chatting with old friends, cooking, Barry Manilow, and her cats, who she considered the children she never had. Sharah is survived by her parents of Snellville, GA, a sister, Stephanie (Horton) Brantley of Snellville, GA, and a sister, Sheilia (Horton) Carter of Columbus, OH, four nieces and nephews, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Sharah was preceded in death by her brother, David Horton, maternal grandparents, Lillie (Carter) Gray and Mark Cooper, and paternal grandparents, Eula Bell (Jenkins) Horton and Ulysses Leslie.
