Robert Edward Pugh Sr.

Robert “Bob” Edward Pugh Sr., age 87, of Laurel, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Born on May 31, 1936 in Arthurdale, WV, he was the son of the late Orval L. Pugh and the late Edythe M. Watkins Pugh. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Helen Randall Pugh.

He attended Anacostia High School in Washington, DC and graduated in 1954. He received his Master of Commercial Science degree from the George Washington University School of Business in 1961. Bob retired after a long career as a CPA.

He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Maryland for more than 48 years. He was raised as a Master Mason in Camp Springs Lodge No. 227 in 1975 and went on to serve as Worshipful Master of the lodge in 1981. Bob was a 33⁰ Scottish Rite Mason and a member of many other Masonic organizations including the Order of the Eastern Star in which he served as a Worthy Patron and of Job’s Daughters International where he served as Associate Bethel Guardian.

Bob is survived by his wife Helen, his daughter Susan Williamson, his son Robert Jr. and wife Denise, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Thomas and Jerry.

Family will receive friends at Witzke Funeral Homes, Inc., 5555 Twin Knolls Rd., Columbia, MD 21045 on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM where Masonic memorial services will begin at 11:00AM. A graveside service will follow at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mount View Rd, Marriottsville, MD 21104 at 1:00PM.
