Maureen Brigden Lasek

Maureen Lasek, 85, of Columbia, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home on May 18, 2023. She is predeceased by her loving son Michael, and is survived by her husband Joe, son Jay (Jana), daughters Hilary (Steven) and Jennifer (Brian), grandchildren James (Tory), Robert (Brooke), Larson (Ryan), Zach, Isabella, Taylor, and Aidon, and four great-grandchildren.

Maureen was born in Green Bay Wisconsin, and lived her childhood years in suburban Milwaukee with her parents and brother. She married Joseph Lasek, also of Milwaukee, in 1960, and they had four children. They lived in several locations over the years, with their last move being to Columbia Maryland in 1974. Maureen was a librarian and owner of Needleplay, a craft store. She had a passion for knitting, providing warmth to friends, family, and infants at her local hospital. Maureen was active as a Bridge player and with her church community at St. John the Evangelist in Columbia.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Witzke Funeral Homes, Inc., at 5555 Twin Knolls Rd, Columbia, Maryland. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist at The Wilde Lake Interfaith Center, 10431 Twin Rivers Rd, Columbia, Maryland 21044, on Wednesday, May 24th at 12 noon.
