Feeling so deeply sorry for our dear friends Catherine, Chelsea and Matthew. During our 3-year-long stay in Maryland the Miller family became very special friends to us. We will never forget the time we have shared. Our thoughts are with you.

To Joel's Family and Friends.
As a neighbor of Joel's we send out sincerely condolences. Feel so bad we were not there with you at the wake and funeral. However, know we value our short time with him here in Maple Lawn.

Our thoughts and prayers are with my sister Catherine, her children Matthew and Chelsea as well as her extended family (The Miller's). They continue this journey in sadness and sorrow, but hopefully will be able to embrace all the wonderful memories that were created.   My hope is for peace and love during the sad days ahead.  Even though family could not be there, we were there in spirit.   The boys will miss their "Uncle Joey".

I had the pleasure of working with Joel in the 90's on significant Navy laser testing at White Sands Missile Range.  Joel represented the Washington program office while I led the effort at WSMR.  Joel was a joy to work with and was admired for his keen intellect, scientific curiosity, and thoughtful leadership.  I am saddened at his passing and note that the U.S. has lost a national treasure.

Our memories of Joel are all positive, starting from first meeting him as a high school student, through his days at  McMaster  as an engineering student, being guests at Joel and Catherines wedding, and occasional visits with Joel and Catherine through 
their early married years. He was taken too young. May memories of happier times help to ease the pain at this sad time

Hey Joel, we had some great times,in grade school and high school. Later going to a few Michigan Football games. Playing baseball, shooting pool, concerts and our cars. Always part of our early years on Curry Ave. Condolences from John Rudak, Jean Ann and family.

To Matt and the rest of the family, you have my deepest condolences, and you're in my thoughts. If you ever need to get out of town, you're always welcome up here.

I will always remember Joel for his influence on my professional career, but even more to my personal growth.  An awesome man taken from this world too soon, but whose impact is more than anyone can quantify.  My prayers to his family and friends.
