On the evening of Jan. 15, 2024, David Wesley Lindquist of Ellicott City, MD, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the One whom he had so looked forward to meeting face to face.
Dave was born in Minneapolis, MN, the second son of Lawrence Lee Lindquist and Eleanor Genevieve (Sherratt) Berge. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of MN and his master’s degree at the University of KY. Dave served in the US Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He taught physical education and then went into administration serving as vice principal for the remainder of his 34-year teaching career. After retirement, he continued part-time as a substitute teacher.
Dave was very faithful with over 50 years involvement at Mt. Zion UMC, attending Sunday School, Bible studies, volunteering in home missions endeavors, and singing in the choir. He served as co-chair of the building committee helping to oversee the church addition and expanded parking lot.
Those who have preceded Dave include his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Gloria Lindquist, all of his wife’s siblings and their spouses, as well as Bob and Gloria’s oldest son, Michael Lindquist. Dave is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Ann (Whitlock) Lindquist; his son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Esther Lindquist; his granddaughter Susanna and her husband, Nicholas Buccelli; and many nephews and nieces and their children and grandchildren. Dave was devoted to his lifetime-love, Nancy and extremely proud of his son, Wesley. But being a grandfather was Dave’s top joy!
Dave was a master fly-tyer and loved fly fishing. Dave also enjoyed his wife’s cooking, football, Western TV shows and novels. Dave had a knack for making people laugh and was a joy to be with. This was a man who really had no enemies! During the last two years of his life at Lighthouse Senior Living in Ellicott City, he looked forward to bingo and arts and crafts. Both he and Nancy were quite generous in sharing both time and money, from supporting home and foreign missions, to being camp counselors, to opening their home and sharing meals. In short--He lived and loved well and was much loved.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Feb. 9, 2024 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 12430 Scaggsville Rd, Highland, MD 20777.
