Chance Kohberger passed away on February 11, 2022 after a four-month battle with cancer. On June 14, 1983 at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, he was born three months prematurely to Raejean and Reed Kohberger. As the child of a military family, he lived in many different places, including Virginia, Alaska, Washington State, Guam, New York City, Puerto Rico and Columbia, Maryland.
Chance was an avid gamer, film aficionado, and pop culture memorabilia collector. He loved his cats, especially Oscar. He took good care of the people around him, was a dear and loyal friend to many wherever he traveled, and was the greatest giver of gifts that ever lived. He worked hard as a union employee of Giant Foods for eighteen years. He will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, LCDR Reed Kohberger and Raejean Kohberger; his younger sibling, Pauli Kohberger, and their husband, Sam Kaplan; his older brother, Robert Kimo Johnson; his oldest brother, Douglas Gorai; and his companion, Tempest Fields.
He is, and will always be, sadly missed. In lieu of services, there will be a Celebration of Life for Chance at a venue in Columbia, Maryland, when it is appropriate to do so post-COVID.
