the last 38 years in Columbia, Maryland..
Betty was born in a small town near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on
September 7, 1924. She lived a number of places. In her late teens,
her family settled in Baltimore where she met her future husband. Both
served in the military during World War II. Betty was in the Women's
Army Corps. While she did not go overseas, she fixed airplanes in
Dyersburg ,Tennessee.
After discharge from the service, she and Edward Moore married in
August, 1946. They raised two children, Kathleen and Edward, Jr. In
addition to raising their family, Betty was a crossing guard and later
worked and retired from Baltimore Life Insurance Company,
Throughout her life, Betty was a voracious reader. She did some
limited travel. Her favorites were a trip to Bermuda and two different
paddle boat cruises on the Mississippi.
Betty was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Howard
County. For years she nurtured the children in nursery.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Edward Moore, and is survived by
her children, Edward, Jr and Kathleen. her daughter in law, Sandra and
two grandsons, Dale and Adrian. She has one living sister, Erris,
three cousins, Lois, Jean and Linda and a number of nieces and
nephews.
A viewing is to be held at the Witzke Funeral Home on Friday, June 9,
from 5-8 pm. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at
First Presbyterian Church of Howard County on Saturday, June 10 at 10
am. Interment will be at Gardens of Faith Memorial Gardens in
Baltimore.
