Theodora Peka Tauvala’au, daughter of the late Ta’afuli Arona Malaeulu and Faivaofitiialilo Tali Fa’ala’ula’u Malaeulu was born June 25, 1960 in Moto’otua, Samoa. She received her high school diploma from Leone High School in Samoa in the year 1979. She received her Associates of Arts degree from Compton Community College in Compton, CA. in June of 1987. She then fulfilled a lifelong goal of receiving her Bachelors of Arts degree in Multidisciplinary Studies on January 25, 2013 from Cambridge College in Massachusetts.
She was united in holy matrimony to Timoteo Suapaia Tauvala’au on September 7, 2017. Together, they became parents to 8 children and 11 grandchildren. Although they only had 8 children together, they became parents to many more. Any child, young adult, married couple, and even entire families have come to know them as parents. No matter where life took you, or what hardships you were currently experiencing, Peka & Timoteo always made sure you felt loved and that you were taken care of.
She became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in May of 1983, she remained an active member even up until her last day. Because of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Peka was the epitome of Love and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.
After her yearlong battle with Ovarian Cancer, she departed this life surrounded by her family on Saturday, August 19, 2017. She was preceded in death by her father Ta’afuli Arona Malaeulu, her mother Faivaofiti’ililo Tali Fa’ala’ula’u Malaeulu; Her brothers Olotele, Sikipi, & Iakopo; Her sisters Lelava & Noni; And her eldest son Nelson Fabian.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Joyce (Darren) Land, Sandra (Ron) Smith, Theodora (Tini Jr.) Salanoa, Elder Adonijah Tauvala’au, Adonis Tauvala’au, and Taligalu Tauvala’au; 11 grandchildren; Her brothers Sapati & Fiailoa; Her sisters Uai Mau’u, Tu’ua Hill, Potoafe Covarrubias, and Mere Aukuso; Along with a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tauvala’au will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints beginning at 9:00am. A viewing will be held at 8:00am prior to the funeral service.
