Terry Davis Maloney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on April 20, 2020, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Terry will be forever remembered by her daughter-in-law, Ann Maloney (Stephen Maloney), son and daughter-in-law, John and Katie Maloney, daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Paul Nugent, daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Paul Blanchard, and daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Rob Aument. Terry will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members and many friends. Terry was preceded in death by her husband, James Maloney, and her firstborn child, Stephen Maloney.
Terry was born on March 25, 1934, in Noel, Missouri, to Charlie and Maggie Davis. During her childhood, she was doted on by her four older brothers and maintained close relationships with her siblings and their families throughout her life. She attended school in Noel, where she formed lifelong friendships that she cherished. Terry loved learning and attended Southwest Missouri State University where she earned her teaching credential. In 1955, she married the love of her life, James “Jim” Maloney. She went on to develop strong ties with her in-laws and their families. Jim and Terry raised five children together, and they created a legacy of family dinners, holiday celebrations, story-telling and other traditions that will last long after their passing.
Terry was a teacher at Cope Middle School, Clement Middle School, Mentone Elementary and Franklin Elementary school in the Redlands Unified School District. She was a devout Christian, an active member of Sacred Heart Church (Holy Name of Jesus Church) and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Terry had a true servant’s heart and touched all of those who knew her with her kind spirit and generosity. She was an encourager who could always find just the right words of comfort and inspiration. Terry was the heart of her family, always ready with a listening ear and a homemade meal. Her gift was that she loved people unconditionally and made those around her feel appreciated. She will be missed.
Terry will be remembered at a private graveside service at Our Lady Queen of Peace, where she will be laid to rest with her husband. A Celebration of Life will be held during the summer of 2020.
