Ruth Marino Moreno Griño was born March 30, 1931, in the Philippines to Enrique Moreno and Flora Marino. She was often called Mama Ruth, Inday Ruth, and Auntie Ruth by her nieces, sisters, relatives, and close friends.
She passed away quietly in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 20, 2023, three months after a fall breaking her right wrist on September 21, 2023. She was 92 years old. She was living with her daughter, Loselie Griño Weber, at the time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Griño, in January 2009. She is survived by her sister, Betty Moreno Schlunt and her husband, Dr. Richard Schlunt; three children and their spouses, Loselie and Allen Weber, Carl and Terri Griño, and Charles Griño; grandchildren, Aaron Weber, John Weber, Emily Weber, Carigan Griño Miller, Chandler Griño Plasencia, Corbin Griño, and Carson Griño; great grandchildren, Brynn Plasencia, Vai Plasencia, Aylish Miller, Eden Weber, and Zoe Weber; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She attended West Visayan Academy and Philippine Union College in the Philippines and received a degree in accounting.
She worked at Manila Sanitarium after graduating from PUC. After marrying Carlos Griño on April 19, 1959, and having her three children, she immigrated to Canada March of 1967, following her husband.
In Canada she worked in patient billing at Branson Hospital in Willowdale, Ontario, and worshiped at the Willowdale Seventh-day Adventist Church until 1979, when she and her family moved to Plano, Texas, where she worked in food prep at Wyatt’s Cafeteria.
In 1981, the family moved to Loma Linda, California, and she worked at Loma Linda Medical Center in patient billing where she retired, and worshiped at the Loma Linda University Church until her move to Texas in November of 2020.
She enjoyed cooking and was well known for her homemade eggrolls. She loved to laugh, play games, tell jokes, and prank people.
She loved the Lord and read her Bible every day, and prayed for her family daily.
She will be dearly missed by her family.
