Peter C. Pham was born on May 5, 1931 in Vientiane, Laos. He was the youngest son of Mr. Thuy Van Pham and Mrs. Chau Thi Nguyen. He migrated to Thailand during the war. While in Thailand, he met his wife, Mrs. Thai Thi Cao, during the stay with his Uncle Maitri.
Eventually dad moved back to Viet Nam to be with his parents in Saigon. During that time mom had gone off to school in Singapore, but they had fell in love so dad had to convince mom to move to Viet Nam to marry him, in 1958. Because of the war we migrated to Thailand in 1969.
In Thailand, a new country, dad eventually found a good job as an accountant for a major company to support the family and put the two sons through college. In 1977, I came to the US for college and soon after in 1979 dad migrated the rest of the family to the US.
We settled in Chicago, Illinois for a while until 1983 when I moved out to California and Robert moved to California in 1985. In 1989 dad and mom finally moved out to California to be near my brother and I. Life was difficult because of the war back then in the 60’s and 70’s, but my dad always managed through his courage and knowledge to find the way to support the family. Dad was an example of pure dedication, courage and would sacrifice everything for his family. He was a dedicated Catholic as well. He still went to church until the day he could not walk steady any longer.
Dad was a dedicated grandfather. He helped taking care of his grandchildren without any hesitation. He actually enjoyed spending time with them and guiding them through life. He also became a great grandfather after his grandson Kristopher had his children.
He will always be remembered for the love for his family.
We love you and will miss you.
