Pete joined the Army in 1963 assigned to the Army Security Agency. He served in Monterey CA, Philippines, Fort Bragg NC, Saigon and Nha Trang South Vietnam, Thailand and Virginia.
Pete began his career as a DJ in 1969 at KPAS, in Banning, CA. He was a DJ for several stations until 1984 when he became a News Anchor with KFWB Hollywood, which is where he retired from after 30 years in Broadcasting. During this time he was an Instructor at Columbia School of Broadcasting in Corona, CA and Los Angeles Broadcasters in Los Angeles, CA. In 2008 he launched the 1st radio station in Grand Terrace, CA, AM1640. Known to everyone in town as “The Voice of Grand Terrace”.
He won several awards throughout his career: Inland Empire Magazine Best Local Radio Newsman; 2 Golden Mike’s (radio news equivalent of an Emmy); National Spot News Award; Associated Press Best News at Ten; Los Angeles Press Club Journalism Award for Excellence; Associated Press Certificate of Excellence. Pete was also the Owner of RadioCopy, an internet based commercial copywriting service with clients nationwide.
Pete is survived by his wife, Connie Parsons; son Dustin Parsons; daughter Andrea Parsons; stepdaughter Shelly Payne; granddaughter Nicole Payne; granddaughter Valeria Molina; great grand-puppy Ariel.
