Passed quietly in her sleep on Friday 6/14/2013 with her family at her side. She was a long time resident of Redlands. Marion was born in Los Angeles and came to San Bernardino with her parents at an early age. She attended San Bernardino schools until she graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1941. After graduation, she went to banking school and worked at Bank of America at the Base Line Branch for 8 years before she married Gerry Van Ness, a San Bernardino businessman, in 1946. They had 2 daughters, Shirley and Suzie and moved to Redlands in 1952. She lived a simple life, enjoying nature and the out doors. She played golf and liked taking camping trips with her family. She mostly loved the desert and enjoyed spending time at their vacation home at Lake Havasu. She kept a lovely home and appreciated the quiet beauty of her yard through her final days. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Walker and Suzan Arendt, both of Redlands. 3 granddaughters, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. There will be a private graveside service. Contributions can be made to her favorite charity, The Redlands Animal Shelter and the Humane Society.
