Maria Concepcion Gamboa was born in Colton, California, on May 25, 1938
and passed away on April 3, 2021. She was the 6th of 12 children of Felix
and Petra Mercado. She graduated from Colton High School in 1956. She
continued her education at San Bernardino Valley College earning an
Associates Degree. She completed her bachelors and master’s degrees in
Anthropology at California State University San Bernardino, in 1987 and
1989.
Maria met the love of her life, Arthur Gamboa in 1957, and they were later
married in August 1959. Known affectionately as Connie, she was one-half of
the Art and Connie show. Together they raised 4 children, Christine, Arthur,
Rosemary and Daniel.
She was a lifelong Roman Catholic and active member of St. Joseph the
Worker Church, Loma Linda. She was an avid reader and life-long learner.
She was beloved by her family and friends.
Survivors
Maria Gamboa is survived by her husband of 61 years Arthur Gamboa,
daughter Christine Marie and her husband Eric Katz, her son Arthur Gamboa,
daughter Rosemary Egle-Hopwood and her husband Lance Hopwood, son
Daniel Gamboa and his wife Martha, 14 grandchildren; brothers Isaac, Lolo,
and Joe, and sisters Angie and Mickey.
