Kenneth R. Knutson

1943 – 2010

Kenneth Raymond Knutson was born in Douglas, Arizona to Arthur and Celia Knutson on September 28, 1943. He had 2 older brothers, Hugh and Jerry, a younger brother Larry and two younger sisters Ruth and Barbara. Ken grew up in Colton California and attended Colton High School. He joined the Marine’s in 1961 and completed his duties in 1965.

Ken had 2 daughters Kim and Tammy with his first wife Velda. He married his second wife Joyce on August 26, 1979, who had two boys Eric and Peter Gentry and together Ken and Joyce had a daughter Rebekah. Ken and Joyce raised their family in Highland California for 30 years. Ken was blessed with 11 grandchildren; Lacie, Jake, and David from oldest daughter Kim and her husband Bob, Kassie, Melanie and Timothy from daughter Tammy and her husband Dean, Kierstin and Mikayla from son Eric and wife Christine, Jenna, Cole and Ian from son Peter and wife Angela, and Zoey who is Rebekah’s cat.

Ken was a self-employed General Contractor/Electrician for 19 years and worked as an Electrician for the City of Colton prior to being self-employed. He was a master at his work and took pride in his trade and was always generous and willing to help people if they needed anything. He attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Highland. Ken enjoyed NASCAR Dodger baseball, Lakers basketball, and in the past 2 years began bowling in a Redlands league where his oldest daughter and family also bowled. Ken coached little league baseball for both boys when they were young. He participated in the San Gorgonio High School Band Booster Club while his daughter Rebekah attended and played the Clarinet and Oboe. Ken enjoyed time with his family and raising Cockatiel birds.

Ken passed away at his home on June 8, 2010 at the age of 66. His services were held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Highland, California on June 24, 2010 at 4:30 pm. Close family and friends attended a reception to follow to celebrate Ken’s life.
